Recycled Paper Works Feature at Origin Craft Fair

The jewellery is made by orgami, japanese paper folding. She sees wearing banknotes as an alternative to wearing precious materials. As part of her project, she has started the World Money Project, a worldwide art project about the value of money. She is asking people to send a banknote from their country, along with a questionnaire so that she can make a worldwide piece of art that is a comment on the role of money in our daily lives. And something very very strange has happened…so strange even I am a tiny little bit worried…I have all of my course outlines wrote…that’s seven courses for five weeks, planned and designed, all course materials sourced and either purchased or ordered, I am demonstrating over at Windmill Crafts on Saturday and not only am I prepared I am packed and ready to go too…

] I am feeling a bit more switched on and intentional, and less inclined to let certain aspects of my life drag the whole of it down. My solution is pulling out my crafty bits and play at making pretty pictures (I’d take a photo, but I am saving some for gifties, can’t spoil the surprise now can we…) and jewellery making bits. Fifth annual Revelstoke Women’s Show brings small business community together for good cause
She recently started holding classes at Castle Joe Books for teens and adults on Thursday evenings and for kids after school on Tuesdays. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids, plus supplies. All Shonek’s jewellery is made in Revelstoke and can be found for sale at local shops including Sangha Bean, Areaworx, Talisman and Castle Joe. Her husband Satish also makes some of the jewellery, including earrings and some leather pieces. ��It’s a long, involved process,�� she said. ��It’s a labour of love.�� Eventually Shonek hopes to open her own bead shop in town. Trans-Canada Fitness and Thunderbird Massage Therapy Now in its eighth year, Trans-Canada Fitness came to the Women’s Show this year for the first time. ��It’s a great venue to engage local women,�� said owner and personal trainer Neil Jones. ��We’re happy to support the women’s shelter �C it’s a good cause.�� With Corbett McCabe, who runs Thunderbird Massage Therapy out of the gym, Jones was already thinking of new ideas for next year’s Women’s Show.
