Austin Fashion Week brings to mind runway models, glamour and clothes, clothes, clothes. But as any fashonista knows, an outfit is only as good as its accessories. Tuesday night’s Jewelry Showcase, Saturday’s Kickoff and the Awards Show displayed a number of incredibly talented jewelry makers. Tuesday night was all jewelry, all night long. The models wore plain black outfits to emphasize the pieces being shown. Each design had a story and an inspiration behind it. Femailler makes chainmaille jewelry, small links that create bracelets, necklaces and rings. Another designer, Eye on the Sparrow Designs, uses donated guitar and bass strings for her creations and gives a portion of the profits to charity.
