Great jeweler, articulate fashion jewelry, friendly and honest. ?I’ll let you know how my piece turns out but the jeweler, I think his name is Mike, was able to look at the piece I have and with my description of what I wanted the finished piece to look like sketched out what I think is going to be a piece.
This review is the honest truth from a former customer. It has been almost 9 years since I’ve been there and I still very upset with them. My husband had them design an engagement ring for me – a pave band with a center stone (approx value $8k…not a lot of money for most but it was for us in our late 20s/early 30s). They told him that if the ring doesn’t fit, they would re-size it. Little did we know, but they should have Body jewelry, you can’t re-size a pave diamond band. Long story short, after taking the ring in for resizing, several days later they called me to say they couldn’t. I asked them why they told my fianc they could when they sold him the ring. The jeweler didn’t have a response instead suggested a “u-shape spring” to be placed inside the ring. Given that I was young and na?ve about jewelry and didn’t know better, I said OK since the ring was too big for my finger…they didn’t leave me with another option. Several days later, I went to pick up my ring. To my shock, I didn’t realize it was an actual u-shape spring. It looked like a fake toy ring with a spring part inside it. I couldn’t believe they actually tried to give me back the ring that look like crap. I saw the ring and just cried. Thank goodness my coworker was with me and suggested I refuse the ring and demanded they fit it properly. I wanted a second opinion so we walked five stores over to Polachecks Jewelers. They were extremely helpful and even they couldn’t believe how bad the ring looked and advised me to demand they “make it right”. Secondly, the ring was supposed to be all platinum but they used platinum for the ring but white gold for the prongs. I asked them why wasn’t the ring stamped with the symbol for platinum since that is what we were promised and had paid for. They gave me some lame excuse that they “had to make the prong in white gold rhinestone jewelry, it was the standard in the industry”…something lame like that. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The jeweler ended up making a whole new ring. Anyway, after the BBB filing, they did make the ring in all platinum and had it stamped with the “PT” letters so I know they were cutting corners with the first ring. Furthermore, the second ring they made, they used smaller diamonds for the pave band. It was definitely not the same size diamonds. I only had pictures from when we were on vacation and my fianc proposed but I didn’t have hard evidences that they used smaller stones but I know they are. I bet my life on it. This experience ruined what should have been one of the happiness occasions in a person life. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Not worth taking the chance of ruining your special day. Buyers beware!!!

First, lets point out the most important things about this Ross:??its CLEAN and organized! ??wide selection!??friendly staff!??big parking lotI like to come here when I feel like spoiling myself without overspending; thanks to their wider selection here at this location, I can always find some goodies here like my beloved Hello Kitty items, Betsey Johnson jewelry, and Harajuku Lovers bags. And for you Juicy Couture lovers, they have ample Juicy Couture purses, bags, and jewelry.Tip: this location does tend to get crowded during the weekends, especially Sunday afternoon around 1pm.
This place is like being in the ghetto. Its jumbled up and nobody gives a sh!t. I was trying to find a dress shirt and sizes and styles are all over the place. You may as well throw everything on the floor. Walking out the lines to buy this junk was long.Mr. Manager, open up more registers, you goon. Also the chicks working there are ugly and dumb. I wouldnt mind if they had big tits but they dont have any. Just big bellies and faces that look as though they may have been men in another life.
I am writing to complain about the quality of customer service at the Ross in LaCanada, California. ?I went there today, and when I was buying shoes, I noticed that the shoe had a green/organce stain on it. ?I tried to find a different pair without any stains, but couldn’t, so I asked the cashier for a discount. ?She talked to the manager (Rima), and came back and said that Rima refused to give a discount. ?I asked to talk to Rima personally and asked why she refused to give a discount, she said she couldn’t see the stain. ?I said well, maybe you need better glasses, in which case she started talking rudely to me in Armenian. ?There was obviously a stain on the shoe, both my friend who came with me, and the cashier, saw the stain. ?I think the customer service here was horrible, and the manager had no right to deny me the discount based on her pretended blindness. The customer service here is horrible!
I always enjoy shopping at this Ross. It’s not messy and disorganized like the other one I visited in Van Nuys. Ross in La Ca?ada has a big selection and it’s super organized. Yes, I have noticed that the employees often speak Armenian to each other but it really doesn’t bother me. The line can get long at times but it’s a small price to pay for shopping in a really clean and organized store full of bargains.
While I am not a frequent shopper at Ross, I was impressed by the on in La Canada. ?It is clean, organized, and has a big parking lot. ? In true Ross fashion antique pocket watches, their prices are excellent and have a decent sale / clearance section. ?Makes hour long shopping trips with my wife just a little less painful.
Far from congested city centers and offering better AND WIDER selections than the other ross stores that you would find in the Glendale, Pasadena, or Hollywood areas. I go here to get my sports gear that I would use on hikes, runs, or gym. Its just cheaper to go here than hit up the bigger corporate sport stores and it doesnt matter unless it works for you in the fitness world. So have no shame at shopping at Ross, I sure don’t!
The only reason I give this store two stars is because it has a healthy selection of clothes. ?Otherwise, I would have given it half a star.I found it overpriced-, understaffed-, and way too messy — compared to a lot of other Ross stores out there. If you visit this store in the evening, don’t come alone. ?Have a buddy stand in the checkout line while you go look around. ?Check on him/her about 2 hours later, they should be about half way through the line by then.
This store definitely has LOTS of options… but you really need to be patient to go thru all the racks upon racks of clothing. ?Some Ross’s are a straight mess, but this one is much more organized than most. ?I stop in on days to see if i can get lucky on an item or two and i almost always do.. they have a great purse and luggage selection…. also lots of great shoes.. there’s something for everyone here!
Imagine if two trains going 100mph collided. One train contained immigrants from every country.*The other contained cheap clothing and housewares.Welcome to the Glendale Ross.*Nothing against immigration, etc. Most of us have immigrant blood. Except me. My ancestors were forced over here / nearly wiped out by Columbus’ folks / ?invisible martians. ?So there.
OK, so when I signed up for a Yelp account I pledged to be honest and helpful. When I decided to review this Ross, I felt a flinch of mischief, because I wasn’t sure that I wanted to tell everyone how great this store actually is, so I am really surprised by the negative reviews. In my opinion, this is one of the best stores that I have been to– I encountered a better Ross only in San Francisco. You won’t find the atmosphere of a high end department store, ever– because it’s Ross (Dress for Less but spend hours sifting through the racks). That’s just how it is, along with pushy crowds, clothes on the floor, indifferent employees, and sizes jumbled everywhere. Although, I have to say, this place is pretty good about keeping their sizes where they should be. Usually you have to look through ALL the racks hoping to find your size. Now, onto the merchandise. They have a really good selection of dresses and a decent one of shoes. Last time I was here I found a $200 silk previous season’s “hit” dress for 20 bucks. Along with amazing platform ?Michael Kors and Vince Camuto shoes for about $30. Today they had a whole bunch of designer $150 dresses for $40. ?I have the hardest time finding a well-fitting dress, and I actually found one that I love. Usually, I leave Ross stores empty-handed, after having tried on a gazillion things, regretting going there in the first place. Not so much with this store.
The high score is because the goods in this store are GOOD. Have you ever been to a Ross/Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Nordstro Rack and left with a feeling of disappointment? There’s a ton of good sh*t in here. I came here looking for a dress to wear to a wedding and tried on about 10 before whittling it down to 1. The dress section is HUGE..yes CZ Jewelry, you have to flip through the racks but there’s 4-5 dresses of women’s dresses and juniors dresses also. The shoe section is also pretty large and has a lot of 7′s and 8′s…(and 5′s, these stores always have so many 5′s.) A lot of pretty shoes here.and Yes, there seems to be a lot of immigrants and maybe a lot o the ?workers are Armenian but it’s California, what do you expect? (Ray L , Jackie H: I’m talking to you) If you want to be in a sea of white americans…welll I don’t know where you should go, Kansas, Utah, Missouri, Nebraska? The workers at Ross that I encountered were courteous. The workers at Ross aren’t there to help you find your size..They’re putting merch out, and the cash wrap, attending to fitting rooms and cleaning up the aisles. If you came to Ross to get customer service, maybe you should leave and go have some fine dining at McDonalds while you’re at it.The line is long because people want to buy things on discount. There’s lots of people at Ross because it has a lot of stuff to sell…but there’s usually 5-6 cashiers so it doesn’t take that long.
Love this store. For a Ross it’s really organized..
This is definitely one of the better Rosses. ?It’s Ross – you’ll get a pile of clothes here and there, but the selection here is pretty good. ?The boxed merchandise has a lower crumpled box-to-new box ratio than most. ?During allergy season, I can’t go in without a mask. ?But that’s true of all other Rosses too.
Not a good place to shop. The workers are rude, rude, and rude. ?By the way did I say the workers are rude? (Note: I am referring to the Armenian workers only the 2 other non Armenian workers were really nice and helpful) It feels like you are in Armenia, that’s all they speak, I thought Ross was a store in the Good Ole US of A, Guess not!!!! ?Either the workers are busy talking about the customers in Armenian, or they are busy yelling at the 2 non Armenian workers. ?I also watched an Armenian customer place 2 smaller luggage’s into a larger one took it to the cashier, greeted the cashier in their language and watch the cashier charge for the one large luggage and not even look or charge for the other 2 smaller luggage. There were price tags on the smaller luggages because I was looking at one of them. ?So the moral of the story here is there is only good service and great discounts if you are Armenian. If you are not Armenian then go to the “Back of the Bus”. In an economy that has been destroyed, one would wonder why a store like Ross would not try to prevent thief?Don’t go where you are not welcomed, go anywhere that wants your business and will treat you as such.
this is a tight store..there is a lot of stuff at this ross. it’s kinda chaotic. if you have time to sift through the long racks you probably will find a lot of good stuff..it’s quite overwhelming..i don’t known if it’s always this fully stocked or i just happened to come in on a good day..i do however remember it having a lot of stuff the last time as well. i came here for one thing and one thing only, a pizza stone. i ended up leaving with a pair of pants as well but whatever..sometimes ross just really pulls through like that. anyways, found the pizza stone. the home section of the store is pretty disastrous. ?there is just shit everywhere and stuff stacked messily on shelves. pizza stone boxes were in two different aisles just kinda stacked in between cutting boards and boxes of other random house hold things like reject rachel ray fondue http://sets.it actually made for quite a strenuous task. it was almost like a mission in a war zone really…in any case, i found what i was looking for and then some. marshalls and tj maxx did not pull through…booooooo..so ?4 stars, thank you ross.
You will find great deals on name brand items Like a juicy bag for 89.99 good deal or a cute guess tank top $13 great prices . The lines are toooooo long you shop for one hour your in line for one hour .lol . I guess it’s worth it.
i found a few things, and i was tempted to wait in the disneyland line that snaked through the store, but i wasn’t feeling the connection with the rug and dog bed enough to wait it out. have they heard of opening up a new register?
I love the fact that when you go in the store the manager and security greet you . I have found the best deals and it is pretty organized .
This Ross ROCKS!! ?Ok, so it’s not the cleanest store but all the Ross stores are the same so get over yourselves. ?The shoe and dress selection is awesome and the Armenian ladies are VERY NICE despite what you read here and i should know because i have been in here every week for the last several years.
This is one of the better Ross locations. Yes, people can complain that it’s cramped and that the home goods selection is a mess but for whatever reason you can find items here that aren’t available at other Ross locations. I was looking for two specific things, a trash can with a cover for the bathroom and a storage box. There were plenty of these at other Ross and TJ Maxx’s but they were either too expensive, banged up, or ugly. I decide to drive out to La Canada specifically to visit a candle shop and this Ross. It was crowded and messy but I don’t understand why people don’t expect that at a discount merch store. Anyway, I get sidetracked by all the candles but ended up in the bed and bath section. I thought I wasn’t going to get anything until I ended up in what I call The Final Aisle. The Final Aisle is where merchandise goes to die at Ross lol Everything is clearance, last call, rejected, may be damaged or defective items that probably won’t be bought. But I always go down this aisle just in case there’s a gem. That day there were two and it was the exact two items I was looking for! Item #1 was a trash can. I recently decorated my bathroom in a Venetian pattern I got from Sears, all clearance items before Christmas. It’s a blue, brown, and cream color scheme. The Final Aisle had a fantastic large trash can with a swinging top in this metallic goldish brown. Absolutely perfect and it was under $10. Only problem was I could see why nobody bought it. The lid is supposed to snap on the top of the basket and it doesn’t quite fit. ?The shapes don’t quite match. ?A bit of quick thinking and I realize if I duct tape the inside of the top where it meets the basket it will stay on. Bingo! Got me a trash can. Item #2 was a storage container. I could have gone to Target or somewhere and bought a Sterlite box but I wanted something a little nicer and not see-through. Ross had in the main area many many banged up faux-wooden boxes that weren’t worth the money in my opinion. But here in The Final Aisle were two plastic decorative storage boxes with snap-on lids. Perfect size, one had a cute design I liked, and it was under $5. Bingo! Got me a container. I get in line and surprisingly the wait wasn’t that long. My cashier was a very friendly older Armenian lady who told me she bought an even larger version of my trash can for her kitchen. Security was friendly as I walked out. You really can’t ask for more at a store like this. I don’t expect to come out of Ross every time finding exactly what I wanted but even better every time, but experiences like this keep me coming back. You just never know what you’ll find. Make sure to go when you have some time to shop. It may take a while to find exactly what you need and it’s very easy to find other stuff that interests you. So, four months later and the trash can I MacGuyvered with duct tape is still in my bathroom and the storage container is still in use. Crazily enough I looked up the name of box that I bought and it’s some European brand that you can’t get in America. How it ended up in Ross I’ll never know! Thanks Final Aisle!

Rodeo Drive became world renown for luxury shopping in part because of David Orgell. Back in the 50′s David and his wife Teddy opened an elegant silver and tableware store front on what was a quiet little street just down from the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Some 47 years later the David Orgell shop is still there. I understand it may be the oldest store on Rodeo. Over the years they have expanded into luxury gifts, crystal, fine jewelry and antiques. I discovered the joys of shopping at David Orgell just a few months before Mr. Orgell passed away. I was put in charge of finding some unique gifts for my company to bestow on our most valued clients. After some rather disappointing trips around town I landed in D.O. ?I was greeted by a distinguished man with a soft spoken manner. He asked me for the usual details, budget, quantity and such but the thing that surprised me was he wanted to know a little about each of the recipients. After a quick tour around the room he stopped me in front of a glass case filled with silver and crystal gift items. He had one of the other sales clerks help him remove several of the pieces as he explained how each piece fit one of my needed gift requirements. He took time handling each piece and its explanation as if all were million dollar treasures. We were politely interrupted when another employee quietly whispered “Mr. Orgell you have a phone call, Mrs. Reagan wishes to speak to you” WOW! I didn’t know that my salesman was the owner too! I became a regular customer of D.O. from that point on. I never saw Mr. Orgell again but I did get to know his lovely wife. I was sad the day she retired and decided to sell the store. Even though David and Teddy are no longer there, their spirit remains. Service is what you would expect from the Rodeo experience and the offerings always seems to be just what I need. The outside of the store has been updated to reflect the “new” Rodeo Drive but the inside seems a little tired. It really doesn’t matter though, once I spot the new Vacheron Constantin’s I completely forget everything else.Old time class, old time service. I hope they stay open forever.
If I could, I would write two separate reviews of this place, because our experience was SO vastly different with the different people who worked there. ?First, the plus: it seems to be a family-owned business, and the father, a very sweet, soft-spoken and kind-eyed Iranian, was so kind and so respectful, I just wanted to buy everything in the store to support him. ?Another gentleman who worked there was a tall man who had a tie of sheep knitting, and he was equally kind and pleasant to be around. ?My mom and I came in to buy both a wedding gift and a brithday gift, and we had been to this store several times before with no problems. Now, the minus: Sometimes, cliches just aren’t true. ?This time, it was ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,’ because MAN, the son of the very sweet father owner was the total opposite. ?My mom had bought many presents here over the years Silver Jewelry, and she was never once charged for gift wrapping. ?We came and were going to spend about $500 (which I know wasn’t going to let them retire, but it wasn’t just change, either), and they wanted to charge us an additional $15 for gift wrapping. ?When my mom told them she had never been charged for gift wrapping before and asked if they would do it for $10, the son basically called us cheap, said he wasn’t so cheap as to give us $5, and walked away. The nice man with the sheep tie had said they would fix up a few things my mom was buying, and the son, who seemed to be in charge of them, just left them on the counter. ?When we returned over an hour later (they told us to return in fifteen minutes), the son said he couldn’t help us out and threw them in a plastic bag before badmouthing us in Persian right in front of our faces. ?The poor father’s smile fell, and he looked at us awkwardly as we left.I’ve told my mom she shouldn’t patronize such a rude establishment, but it makes me sad because the father was so sweet.
So I was introduced to David Orgell by my Boss, what a unique store in the middle of Rodeo Drive. Whatever you are looking for for your home, jewelry or collectable David Orgell most likely has it or can get it. My first time there I couldn’t believe everything they have there. The Staff at David Orgell is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable so don’t hesitate to ask.
David Orgell is an outstanding store for watches, jewelry, crystal and china. ?I have been shopping here for years, and I have consistently received wonderful service from each and every member of their professional staff. ?They have a terrific product selection and, notwithstanding their Beverly Hills address, their prices are very reasonable. ?The owners and salespeople are knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. ?I highly recommend David Orgell!!
Love this store! This store is more like a treasure box. They carry an unbelievable collection of watches, jewelry and gift items from all over the world. Service is great, they have always gone over and beyond for us and I really appreciate that. You just simply can’t find stores like this anymore. If you are looking for a unique gift this is the place.
I didn’t even have to buy from them, to experience first class service. I have had some questions regarding some Baume & Mercier watch that somebody else offered me, a Riviera one. This gentleman has the time to help me without even getting upset. I’ve decided then, that I will buy from them directly. I was impressed with the soft spoken and courteous manners. Absolutely no wonder David Orgell is one of the best places to shop not only in Beverly Hills, but one of the best in USA. Who said that kind people doesn’t exist anymore?

This place is located in the Fashion District. There are several other accessories store around, but this one is the cheapest! When I went, everything was 40-70% off. I bought really cute pins, 2 for $5, plus a green polka dot watch, and also a zebra one, for $7 each. Go here if you wanna load up on accessories Stainless Steel Necklaces, without feeling guilty! The selection is great and cheap.
I actually found this to be one of the more expensive places down Santee Alley, but of course “expensive” in Santee Alley means like $20 a pop for fake (or just NOT OF GREAT QUALITY AND AREN’T RARE GEMS is the better word) jewelry. The place is pretty huge though Silver Jewelry, with a large, organized selection. And yes, there are 60% off signs everywhere. So in the end, I guess you can definitely leave with a decent piece of fashion jewelry for under 10 bucks. Keep in mind none of this is real, its just to wear for fun on random days.

This place has really nice jewelry and accessories…a little pricey, but a lot of it is made of real silver and/or hand-made. The merchandise is both unique and pretty. The customer service was excellent. The owner, who makes the jewelry was super friendly and accommodating. I bought a hair pin and a dragon penant, both of which she wrapped beautifully without being asked. I asked if she had a chain for the penant and she custom made one out of a silver chain Body jewelry, plus added a black one and a leather one Stainless Steel Earrings, all three for free. I was very impressed with the quality of both the items and the service. Also, this store is in a mall-ish/ market so you can shop for many things at once.
I was looking for a place to shop for hair band and accessories and I finally found a place for it. This is it!!!! I bought their hair band which is super comfortable to wear since its hard to find one like that. Also Sterling Silver Rings, their hair jewelry is super cute and fun! If yas live around the store def. a place to check out. The owner actually makes everything there so if buy her stuff for ex. hair band that has jewelry on it and get sick of it, u can go and ask her to take it off and make it as brooches or hair jewelry.

Last year, I was looking to sell some of my gold jewelry , have some settings repaired and loose diamonds and gems used to create gifts for my children. ?I went to a ridiculous number of jewelers and “gold buyers” that were obvious rip offs as jewelry that appraised for 15k was valued at by these scammers as $400-$700. ?Take a look at my previous reviews. ? I came across Kristof’s in Sherman Oaks and was Monster Beats by Dre Studio thrilled with their honest analysis of the value of the jewelry I wanted to sell and was happy with the pieces they created for my girls. ?I found a gold watch I haven’t worn in years due to an allergic reaction to nickel in the clasp and was thinking that I should take it to Ari at Kristof’s to have the clasp replaced and another bracelet repaired. ?To my surprise there was a message on my voice mail this afternoon from Ari informing me of a 50% off sale at the store. ?What are the chances of that ever happening again. If you’re looking for a last minute gift, engagement ring or perhaps a little something for Valentines day you have to check out Kristof’s. ?They also have great financing up 18 months same as cash.
My fiance and I purchased our wedding bands from the owner of this store Sterling Silver Earrings, he seamed charming and European funny and his price was better than anywhere else. ?The phrase “It’s too good to be true” is exactly what this store is all about. ?When I went to see the rings, they ended up being a whole size bigger than my finger on my ring and they had some other ring for my fiance (he wanted a polished white gold band and they showed me something that looked like brushed titanium – huge difference in cut too). ?Then they could not even look in their files to see that it wasn’t the ring because they never actually wrote it down silver jewelry! ?Can you believe that? ?They never wrote down the ring we ordered or the size we needed and when I was supposed to pick up the rings and I saw it was wrong did they ask what we actually ordered! ?Thank god we had several months to go till our wedding or we would have been SOL.

I love Emerald Forest. This store has the most unique items I have ever seen. There is everything from fine jewelry, cook books, coffee table books, ?mirrors, etc.For Mother’s Day I was looking for the perfect gift. I found it ?at Emerald Forest. My mom travels a lot for work. I found a cute pair of travel size slippers that folded into an overnight toiletry bag. She loves the slippers and takes them with her everywhere! This store also has everything you would need to make your home seem warm and cozy. Two thumbs up for   the Emerald Forest.Ariel Johns
This place has all sorts of interesting things to buy. ?Everything from beautiful pieces of jewelry, to plush gifts for a new baby. ?Beware that once you enter, you will want to purchase everything the store has to offer. ?The prices are pretty moderate sterling silver findings, but some of the jewelry comes with a pretty hefty price tag.If you’re in search of unique and different gifts engagement ring settings, this is definitely the place for you.Monster Bears Pro Cheap
Thank god this place is right next to where I work! The sales ladies are all extremely friendly and the store has the cutest stuff. I have never had to stress about whether or not they will have something for a friend’s birthday,  holiday gift pocket watch, etc. they really have a great selection. Prices are on the high to moderate end, but in this case you get what you pay for. It’s not your usual chatchki store. If you want something wrapped, they do it right there for you which is great. I love this place.
Emerald Forest is a wonderful place for any gift that you might possibly need! (ok mostly for the female set… but that’s what’s important right!) They have a wonderful selection of unique jewelry, things that you won’t find at Nordstroms. ?They also have a selection of “eco-friendly” gifts such as Toms shoes and acetate free nail polish, which I love. It is true, being in there makes you want to buy everything! Therefore, don’t come here if you are in a rush because you will certainly be late to wherever you are supposed to be!

How exciting to have this new treasure in Silverlake. ?The owner is amazing with the best style. ?The shop is very cool, specializing in up-and coming designers. ?I bought the neatest top with a huge eye on it by a local designer,  ”All of Them Witches” and have already gotten lots of complements on it!! They sell lots of crystals, too.
Wonderful store with very helpful, friendly owner. I make the two hour trip from Santa Barbara because nothing in my area compares. Great accessories that just cant be found anywhere else.
In addition to the awesome jewelry and accessories wholesale fashion accessories, this store has a amazing assortment of crystals and minerals at great prices. As a collector, I was happy to find a new place in Los Angeles that carries crystals, since there are only a few.  My purchases all came in gift boxes with a card that has the name and properties of each crystal, perfect for gift giving even though they were all for me! Looking forward visiting this place  on a regular basis.
SPELLBOUND SKY STUDIO is a enchanted and inspiring new Silverlake destination, just a few blocks from the Sunset Junction. Featuring unisex jewelry, accessories, and clothing from the line SPELLBOUND SKY, as well as ?other designers…Chekkitout sterling silver pendants!!!

The B. Boheme necklaces are my new obsession. You know the kind — delicate with brushed gold and silver and perfect for layering and mixing and matching for an every day look. The owner is so sweet! She was at Thread Show over the weekend, and she helped me find the necklaces I wanted, and added or adjusted all of he chains so I had just the right lengths. B. Boheme — you must pack up and move to San Francisco! Hollywood is just not for you. Until then, we meet for the occasional tryst at Thread Show.
They had pop-up shops all the way in NYC during the holiday season at both the Union Square and Columbus Circle holiday markets. I originally stopped by to look for gifts for others but ended up purchasing one of their leaf necklaces for myself. I can’t remember what kind of leaf they said it was, but they basically take real leaves (maple, bay, etc pearl earrings, etc) and dip them in 14K gold, silver Silver Jewelry, copper Wedding Jewelry, etc. The result is a beautiful and delicate looking necklace or even earrings, each of which are unique. The prices were reasonable, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. It would be awesome if they set up a permanent shop over in NYC!
I really liked the pieces as did my girlfriend. ?I was disappointed to hear that they closed, fortunately she still sells her stuff at the Culver City farmer’s market on Tuesdays.
I got a few pieces of jewelry from B.Boheme at the Thread Show in SF. Very unique pieces – a chunky gold ring with pink quartz stone and a gold covered pine cone necklace. The necklace is very delicate and pretty. Sadly, the chain it came on is also very delicate, and it broke. But, I can wear it on a different chain. Next time I’m in LA, I’ll have to check out their shop.
This is my favorite place to get jewelry. ?The pieces are funky and unique and if you want something a little different from what you see, she will custom make it for you. ?The prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting, and she often gives little discounts. ?The woman who designs the jewelry and runs the store is really fantastic! It feels better to support a self-employed designer than buying things for the same price from a store like Banana Republic or Anthropologie, and to get pieces that noone else has!

I bought my engagement ring from Oscar. ? Oscar was fantastic — he is a true craftsman who came up with a beautiful design and implemented it flawlessly, and my fiancee loved the ring he made for her. I knew nothing about engagement rings, but this was a hugely important purchase. ?I went to about 15 different stores, and my fiancee liked Oscar’s designs the best of all of the places we looked. ? ?We were both very comfortable with him, and he gave us some really useful information about options that other merchants simply hadn’t provided (ask him about platinum versus gold rings, for example). Here is a list of the pros and cons I took away from the experience:Cons:Oscar is really busy. ?He is extremely friendly about it, but expect to have to spend some time waiting for him while you are shopping for the ring. And in terms of delivery time, we weren’t in a huge hurry to have the ring delivered, but it did take him 3 weeks to make the ring. ?That said, he knew we weren’t in a huge hurry, and he estimated 4 weeks, so he delivered in under his estimate.Communication: ?Oscar doesn’t immediately return emails. ?He did always eventually return the emails, and you can always call, but he isn’t a blackberry instant responder type. ?On the other hand, do you really need this in a jewelry designer?Pros: Craftsmanship: ?The ring he made was amazing. ? You can look at the workmanship under a microscope. ? He has a background as a purchaser of diamonds, so he gets amazing stones, and he does extremely high quality work with the ring. ?The one part he doesn’t do himself is the small diamonds around the band, but he has a particular craftsman he uses in San Diego who does an amazing job with those stones (micro pave). ? Integrity: ?You can tell that Oscar values his reputation much more than he values a sale. ?He is honest and straightforward in his interactions, and gives you the truth regardless of how it might impact a sale or his profit margin.Experience/Knowledge: ?One thing that drove me nuts when we were looking for rings was everyone telling me that platinum was more expensive than gold. ?I couldn’t understand why, since the metals are the same price now. ?Oscar was the only one who could explain why (there is much more platinum by weight in a platinum ring than in a gold ring of the same size). ?Between his comprehensive knowledge of diamonds and jewelry, you could just see the years of experience, and you were comfortable that you were in good hands.Professionalism: Oscar delivers what he promises. ?He goes out of his way to make sure you are satisfied. ?He knew I wanted the ring a bit early in order to propose the next weekend. ? He arranged to have it shipped back from the artisan who does the micro pave overnight. ? ? When we went to pick up the ring, my fiancees hands were a bit swollen, and Oscar and his staff stayed late to make sure the ring would fit comfortably and that we could take it with us that day.
When it came time for my husband to pop the question, he headed downtown in search for the perfect ring for me. ?He search high and low for a particular cut of diamond which can be hard to come by. ?He went to several stores and lo and behold he found it at Oscar’s. ?Oscar pulled out the stone from his personal collection and educated the hubby on the four C’s of the business. ?Since Joe had been running around the diamond district for a good part of the day, Oscar kindly treated him to free lunch while waiting on the ring. ?Oscar and his staff didn’t try to swindle my husband and gave him great customer service. ?With that being said, I went with Joe back to Oscar’s in search of my wedding band. ?One of the store associates assisted us. ?She listened to the type of ring I was looking for and gave her feminine input on what would pair nicely with my engagement ring. ?We made our purchase in under an hour. ?But when we got home my husband saw the 10% discount on Yelp and immediately called Oscar’s about it. ?Even after purchase, they kindly added the discount. ?Thank you Oscar’s for decorating my ring fingers with some beautiful pieces.
I had an amazing experience at Oscar’s Design! I designed the ring for my girlfriend and could not be HAPPIER :-) Oscar was patient, honest and helpful. I plan on going here many times in the future!
We love Oscar’s! ?great people, great jewelry, and the absolute best prices. ?Do not go to some fancy brand name store, do not buy anything online… go see Oscar. ?My fianc gets complemented on her ring all the time, and it’s all because Oscar took the time to describe to me what it was that’s important in buying an engagement ring. ?We just bought our wedding rings there too.
My fiance and I actually stumbled upon Oscar’s by chance-we arrived early for an appointment at another store downstairs, so we decided to explore the rest of the building. ?Thank goodness we found Oscar’s! ?The second we walked in, everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and the jewelry is just beautiful and of great quality. ?I felt that they truly wanted to help me find “the ring”, instead of just trying to make a sale. ?There are no high-pressure sales tactics here at all, which is rare downtown. ?They truly let the quality of the jewelry sell itself. ?And if you just can’t find that perfect piece…they will design it for you! ?Which is what we decided to do. ?I gave Oscar an idea of what I wanted, he added his creative input, and after exchanging emails (including photos of the wax mold and computer images of the to-be ring) and tweaking things here and there, they created a truly beautiful ring!We didn’t have a huge budget; they will definitely work with you to give you the best for what you can afford. ?I absolutely recommend Oscar’s not just for engagement/wedding rings but for any other jewelry. We ended up also getting my wedding band here, and that is just gorgeous as well. ?You just have to come in to see their pave work, it is just beautiful-everything is lined up so perfectly and the diamonds really sparkle and shine. ?Thanks so much to Oscar, Jean-Claude and Kay for always being so helpful!
The short of it: I didn’t have my wedding ring in time for my destination wedding. The really long of it….I got a call from Oscar 4 weeks after my wedding. He wanted to talk to me after seeing my original review on Yelp! He said he felt bad about my experience at his shop and said that he was upset about my review. He asked me to revisit my review. My dealings with Oscar had to do with my wedding band. It’s an emotional purchase. I agreed to revisit my review to see if I was too subjective/emotional, but before I could, I get an email from Yelp! saying my review has been removed. I can only assume he complained to Yelp! about my review and had it removed. Here is my second attempt to be less emotional and more objective with my experience at Oscars….I came to Oscar’s six weeks before my wedding. I had searched many stores looking for a ring. I found a nice ring at Oscar’s (created by another designer). I was working with Jean-Claude. I asked him if he could make a minor change to a ring he had in the case. He told me ‘no’, but that they could make the ring I wanted. I took the time to draw a sketch to illustrate what I was looking for. Jean-Claude assured me he could create the ring I wanted. I said okay and gave him my deposit. Jean-Claude told me that he would have the ring ready for me in a week. TWO weeks later, I HAD TO CALL them to check on my ring. They said it wasn’t ready yet, but would be done in a few days. An additional week later wholesale jewelry, I HAD TO CALL AGAIN. They said the ring was ready. I went to the shop to check it out. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT I REQUESTED. The frustrating part is that I drew a sketch and they had a ring almost exactly like it already in the shop. Obviously Jean-Claude wasn’t paying attention. To top if all off, the center diamond was crooked. Oscar eventually explained the process that they used (casting two different pieces, then putting them together). This was an issue on all 3 rings shown to me, the center stones were crooked on all of rings produced by Oscar.I became pretty upset at this point. Oscar then got involved. He apologized for the mix up. And said they would try it again and have it done in a couple of days. He even said that he would have one of his associates bring it to me when it was completed. It was at this time I asked Oscar, point blank, if he could really accomplish what I wanted. He reassured me that he could.I had to follow up with them again. Four weeks had passed by the time I saw the second ring. I met with his associate near my house (as promised, he did have someone drop it off). He said to keep it for the night and to let him know if I wanted to keep the ring. It was a very pretty ring and I did consider keeping it, but again, it was not what I asked for, nor was the center diamond straight…I returned the diamond the next day and asked for a refund of my deposit. He complied. I believe Oscar genuinely tried to send me off as a “happy” customer. He offered a very tempting price reduction on the third attempt at making my ring, due to my experience with his shop thus far. I eventually accepted the offer (due to the savings). I only had two weeks left until I left for my wedding. Needless to say, Oscar’s last attempt at my ring had nicks on it that couldn’t be buffed out and again, the center stone setting was crooked. At this point, I only had about a week before my wedding and I had to go to a different jeweler. The other jeweler (whom I won’t mention here since Yelp! may remove my review for that…) got my ring done in one shot with excellent service and communication, but because I had used up all of my time with Oscar’s, I didn’t have my ring in time for my wedding. ?I had to get married with a substitute steel band…After receiving the call from Oscar but before having my review removed from Yelp!, I was going to call Oscar back and give him a second chance…that way I could detail my review with what I was hoping would be a successful transaction between us. Since it is my belief (no proof, just circumstantial evidence) that he complained to Yelp! and had my review removed…I have no desire to do so. I will not go back to Oscars.
Not only have I featured Oscar on my TV news reports over the years… and not only have I featured Oscar on my Best Buys TV Show… and not only is Oscar listed on my website http://www.AlanBestBuy…… but I also got my wife’s engagement ring from Oscar. ?What more can I say?
So the economy is bad…everyone gets it. Times are tough and we’re all trying to save. Funny thing is, every time I go to Oscar’s his place is packed. I’ve gone on a Saturday afternoon, Tuesday morning, doesn’t matter). The other stores in the same building cannot say the same. On my last visit (to pick out wedding rings now that the engagement business is all done – satisfied customers coming back), this woman commented on how people just keep coming in, to which Oscar replied, “Yes, it gets busy sometimes.” I laughed and interjected saying that Oscar’s is always busy b/c he’s such a good jeweler, but he’s to humble to admit to his popularity. I think the world of Oscar, but judging by how busy he is, so does everyone else.
I recently got my engagement ring here. Spent over 4 months of research and found this cool place. The staff here is not pushy at all. I met Oscar, the owner, and he was just so laid back. I gave him my budget and what I want in a diamond. And he met my expectation. He gave me a good deal on the diamond too. Ask him and he would give you a brief education on diamonds. There’s a parking lot next to the building; it’s $5 for 3 minutes, maximum $12 or $15 (don’t remember) and it’s cheaper on the weekends after hours *sorry I’ll update this next time I get there*
Okay I agree that the owner is the nicest guy and really laid back, but our experience here wasn’t that great. Probably because it was a busy saturday.BIG TIP: do not go to the jewelry district on saturdays… that’s their busiest day of the week and they have a lot of additional hired hands helping. Some who really shouldn’t be doing sales. If you go on a week day you will have a totally unrushed, calm experience with a salesperson who can actually spend time with you.We had this really push guy with a thick russian accent that just kept pestering us with to look at diamonds when all we wanted was to look at ring settings. “How much do you want to spend?” “What size diamond?” “Don’t worry about the ring, not important, the diamond is the important, we can do whatever you want with the ring” “You want to look at some diamonds?” “Yes, no?”At the end of an hour of dealing with this pushy salesperson, my fiancee and I were completely drained and left not feeling any closer to finding the perfect ring…
I rarely give 5 stars, but I felt especially inclined to give Oscar 5 stars. ? I believe Oscar been in the business for, what, 18 years? ?He knows stones, he knows the jewelry market/business, and he knows he wants repeat customers by doing business that make his customers happy. ?There are a SIGNIFICANT number of jewelers in the downtown jewelry district, but I think you’ll find that Oscar’s is typically almost always busy. ?Why? ? Good, honest business generates repeat customers and referrals. ? I always have a pretty good sense of a person’s character/integrity, and I really truly think Oscar is a one-of a kind jeweler. ?He knows that many of his customers come here for very special purchases and they are spending their hard-earned money, and he respects that. ? I haven’t dealt with many high-end jewelers in my life, but you can pretty much guarantee I expect to have a long-term business-type relationship with Oscar (fortunate for him, unfortunate for my budget!), because of a previous purchase. ? If you’re in the market for bling, check this man out!!!
Been our jeweler for 10 years now. Oscar’s an expert gemologist and he provides excellent customer service. You deal with him directly and not with a sales guy like in other jewelry stores. ?Pricing is very competitive, actually better than big jewelry shops like the one down in Tustin.
I got my Simon G. e-ring and wedding band set from Oscars and it was breathtaking. When I first saw the rings, I could’ve sworn I literally stopped breathing for awhile before I started laughing uncontrollably and almost cried at the same time. The rings are just impeccable and a showstopper! Okay, maybe I’m a little bit biased since I did pick the design and this kind of purchase is very personal and subjective. But as a customer, I would say that Oscar delivered and gave me exactly what I expected…a very high quality item at a very reasonable price. After jotting down a few places (through yelp reviews) in the jewelry district, my other half and I went on our quest to find the “perfect” e-ring. The initial process was not easy and it was overwhelming. We were confused as to where to start and I didn’t even have a setting yet. But I knew the diamond shape that I wanted and I was hoping that looking around the stores would give me a better idea of a setting. I bumped into Oscars when looking for a setting and saw some Simon G settings that caught my eye in the store. For our second visit, I told Oscar I wanted to look at diamonds too, and gave him the shape and the specification ranges (5Cs + table % + depth % + GIA + fluorescence, etc) that I’m looking for. Yes, I am very THOROUGH and very PICKY. Oscars hands down has the best/tight range of specifications on the diamond I was looking for compared to this other store downstairs that showed us several oddball stones (visible inclusion smack dab in the center, an IF stone within specs but has a bad cut and no sparkle, EGL not GIA cert, etc.). So we were cornered to pick between worse or better, but none we were sure of. This makes me feel uneasy and is not acceptable after I specifically indicated what I’m looking for. I find ?Oscar and his staff (Jean Claude and Kaye) very pleasant to work with. Oscar is knowledgeable and patient (at times we were there for hours and left with nothing) and did not push us in anyway to make a purchase. And I like his straightforward approach minus the sales pitch (Robbins Bros – I’m looking at you!). The only downside is that Oscar doesn’t provide free replating. But this is not a big issue to me since I did not get white gold nor do I anticipate to service the ring often. A good quality ring should minimize its maintenance. As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for, so I don’t mind paying a bit for a job well done. Here are some tips that I learned from the ring buying process: 1) Diamond: The CUT of the stone is MOST important and you can sacrifice color and clarity. You can have a gorgeous sparkly stone that reflects light in the G-I color and VS2 or lower clarity that people will not be able to tell on a setting; or you can have a D-F color and VVS2+ clarity that is poorly cut and look dull while paying more $$$. I would definitely pick the former. 2) Experience: Ultimately, the quest for the “perfect” stone is more intuitive than it is technical. Each stone is unique and has its own personality. So try to look through as many stones as you can to train your eyes and get a feel for it, get VERY confused – it’s normal, stop for a few weeks, and start looking again. You will know when you find “the one.” I started by looking for “the best” cut, color, and clarity but even though the one I pick is not the best on paper, I’m absolutely in love with it. 3) Setting: Most stores can make the setting you want BUT after much thought I decided to go with a name brand. Gold is gold, platinum is platinum, right? Maybe. But I’m not a jeweler nor do I have their expertise. But I know most rings are not pure and are alloys of different metals that affect the quality of the ring. A name brand gives me some sense of security that ?what I have is of good quality and requires the least maintenance. This is where I lucked out to find both the stone AND setting at Oscars.4) Don’t judge a store by its cover: Many times while I was at Oscars I would see couples come in, glance around, and leave while I’m silently thinking, “their loss”. To be honest, I was skeptical about Oscars too in the beginning since they have limited jewelry displayed, and they don’t market themselves as a specialty (i.e. bridal) jewelry store. But most brides or bride-to-bes tend to have an idea of the setting they want from magazine, celebrities, friends’, websites, childhood fantasies, or their own design, etc. So it is not cost effective or logical for stores to have a large display of sample rings.5) Don’t feel obligated to make a purchase no matter how nice and accommodating the sales person is. It’s their job but it’s your hard-earned money.I hope this review helps in your ring hunting stress…err…process. So if you happen to be in the area, check Oscars out. You don’t have anything to lose
After months of searching for the perfect engagement ring, I came across Oscar’s Design Jewelry, and decided to give Oscar a call. I told him what I was looking for and what I wanted to spend. He said to visit the next time I was in California, and that he’d work with me to get me what I want. That was all I needed to hear before settling on buying a ring from him. From just speaking to him over the phone, I could tell that he’s a good guy. ? When my now fiancee and I arrived to his store, Oscar sat down with us and went over all of our options. I tried on a few different styles of a similar look, and decided on the perfect setting. Then it was on to the most important part– the center stone. After a few minutes of inspections and negotiations antique pocket watches, I had settled on a beautiful stone, while remaining within my budget. Oscar is genuine and will get you the best possible piece of jewelry your finances will allow. He’s extremely professional, personable, honest and truly cares about his customers. ? I couldn’t be happier with the purchase, my gorgeous ring, the superb service we received and the quality and craftsmanship of my ring. Oscar made me a custom ring that has been getting compliments ever since I took it out in public. I highly recommend Oscar’s, and will definitely be back myself for the wedding band and other pieces as well. Thanks Oscar!
Beautiful diamonds and Oscar is a doll. ?I checked out many different places in the jewelry district and Oscars fit the bill. ?His diamonds are beautiful and he offers many unique settings. ?I told him my budget (which was not that substantial in terms of diamonds) and he didn’t bat an eye or make me feel the fool. ?He has jewelry for every price range, just let him know and he will hook you up. ?My husband and I have been looking for a jeweler that can be our “go-to” guy and Oscar is definitely him.
I went there to see if they could design a custom wedding band for me. Oscar was so busy, one of his hired helping hands was helping us. We showed her our engagement ring as reference, and let me say, she didn’t handle the ring with respect. She shoved it into the ring sizer very hard, dropped it once on the glass, and that was pretty much it. I took back the engagement ring and left.
I have nothing but good things to say about Oscar’s. ?My fiancee and I actually purchased a white sapphire in lieu of a diamond, for both ethical and financial reasons, and then went to Oscar to design the setting. ?We chose him because of the positive reviews on Yelp, and were definitely glad we did. ?He’s friendly, attentive, takes his time with you, and delivers a beautiful, high quality product. ?Oscar never balked over us wanting an alternative to a diamond. ?And I love my ring! ?It’s a beautiful stone in a very classic yet modern setting, and very well made.
Picked out an engagement ring on my own from another place and my wife didn’t like the setting. ?We took the ring to Oscars and he worked with us back and forth for a few months custom designing exactly what my wife wanted. ?He even sat down in front of the computer with us to design the ring in 3D and made several different iterations of the wax mold for us. ?In the end, the ring turned out amazing and he only charged us for the labor in making the ring (allowing us to trade the old platinum setting in for the new platinum). ?He is one of the few who truly cares about his trade and his clients, and he’s the only jeweler I’ll be going to in the future. ?The only downside is the pricey downtown parking.
I came here a second time after I purchased my wife’s engagement ring. ?This time, I bought my wedding band. ?I give Oscar five star for his patience, demeanor, and attitude. I’m not much of a shopper, but my wife IS. ?I can say that we looked all over downtown for 1) quality engagement rings, 2) fair to good prices, 3) good service and quality support. ?I have to say that Oscar’s has all three aspects down to a science. ?When we were shopping for a ring, we compared his rings to Tiffany’s. ?Most of the similar rings at the same price range were of significant lower quality. ?When you compare price to price, you will typically find lower quality diamonds or craftmanship Stainless Steel Necklaces, or lesser service. ?When we came in a second time to purchase my wedding band, Oscar polished and cleaned the engagement ring to a new shine so the ring looked bigger and brighter for the wedding. ?All I have to say is I’m a very satisfied customer and I’m certain Oscar will satisfy you, too.
I stopped into Oscar’s Design Jewelry after visiting several other shops in los angeles and in orange county. Initially i bought my fiance an engagement ring from Michael B.( very expensive/High end) and i bought the engagement bands with it. However the bands were too big and according to every other shop including Michael B. it could not be resized due to having micro pave diamonds all around. Instead, they would have to make new bands and my current bands would only be worth only their materials (essentially worthless). Long story short, i met Oscar and right away he understood my situation and sized the band and also made sure it was identical to the engagement ring and he made sure to keep the design stamp intact. He saved me thousands and was the nicest and most fair priced jeweler that i have met. Dont get me wrong, Michael B was awesome and nice but they are not even on the same level as Oscar. I will be going back to Oscar for all my jewelery in the future.
They have wonderful customer service, were very knowledgeable and are reasonably priced. Would recommend this place over the other stores in the building. Ask for Kay. She’s great!
Thank you so much, Valencia of Oscar’s Design Jewelry for finding us our wedding rings and sticking within our budget. Thank you Oscar. ?He’s got very classy designs that fits any budget. ?Best to go there on weekdays since we got superb service and attention. I will definitely go back for an upgrade when the time comes :) ?Thanks again!
